The annual inflation rate in Montenegro was unchanged at 1.9 percent in October 2018, the same as in the previous month. It remains the lowest inflation rate since December last year, as prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.3 percent vs 0.7 percent in September) and restaurant & hotels (2.1 percent vs 4.8 percent); and fell further for recreation & culture (-1.3 percent vs -1 percent) and health (-0.6 percent vs -0.5 percent). Meantime, inflation was steady for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.5 percent, the same as in the prior month) and communication (1.1 percent); while cost rebounded for clothing & footwear (0.8 percent vs -0.3 percent) and advanced faster for transport (7.9 percent vs 6.4 percent); housing & utilities (1.7 percent vs 1.6 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (1.2 percent vs 1.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.2 percent, following a 0.1 percent gain in September.

Meanwhile, exports rose at a softer 6.3 percent to EUR 291.2 million, boosted by higher sales of manufactured goods (+8.6 percent) and mineral fuels, lubricants & related materials (+64.9 percent).
