Montenegro Tourist Arrivals Up 3.4% in February

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro rose by 3.4% year-on-year to 41,317 in February 2026, rebounding from a 7.2% drop in the previous month.

This marked the highest number of arrivals since November last year, with the largest tourists coming from Europe (77.6% of total arrivals), particularly in Serbia (22.1%), Albania (15.4%), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (7.2%).

Outside Europe, key markets included China (including Hong Kong) (13.3%), Israel (2.8%), and USA (1.8%).

Foreign tourists accounted for the majority of overnight stays in collective accommodation, representing 71.7% of all nights, while domestic tourists made up 28.3%.

By type of resort, most overnight stays were recorded in seaside resorts (57.6%), followed by mountain resorts (16.6%), the capital (16.3%), and other resorts (9.4%).

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro dropped by 7.2% year-on-year to 32,268 in January 2026, following a 7.9% decline in December. Foreign tourists accounted for the majority of overnight stays in collective accommodation, representing 75.2% of all nights, while domestic tourists made up 24.8%. The largest share of tourists came from Europe (84.7%), with notable numbers from Albania (24%), Serbia (18.5%), Russia (7.2%), and Croatia (4.6%). Outside Europe, key markets included China (including Hong Kong) (4.1%), Israel (3.6%), and the USA (2.6%). By type of resort, most overnight stays were recorded in seaside resorts (51.5%), followed by mountain resorts (23%), the capital (19.8%), and other resorts (5.7%).

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro fell by 7.9% year-on-year to 36,079 in December 2025, following a 13% decline in the previous month. Foreign tourists accounted for the majority of overnight stays in collective accommodation, representing 78% of all nights, while domestic tourists made up 22%. The largest share of tourists came from Europe (80.5%), with notable numbers from Serbia (27%), Albania (16.9%), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (8.1%). Outside Europe, key markets included China (including Hong Kong) (8.1%), Israel (2.8%), and the United States (2.4%). By type of resort, most overnight stays were recorded in seaside resorts (60.4%), followed by the capital (22.9%), and mountain resorts (11%).
