Retail sales in Mexico rose by 2.7% year-on-year in January 2025, marking the first increase after eight consecutive months of declines, and surpassing the forecasted 1.1% growth.
This was the strongest increase in retail activity since April 2024, mainly boosted by sales of textile products, costume jewelry, clothing accessories, and footwear (+15.3%).
Notably, sales through online channels, printed catalogs, television, and similar platforms surged by 19.1%.
On a monthly basis, retail trade rose by 0.6% on a seasonally adjusted basis, after a 0.1% increase in December and coming in line with market expectations.
