Latvia Current Account Deficit Narrows in May

Latvia recorded a current account deficit of EUR 103 million in May 2026, narrowing from a deficit of EUR 149 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.

The services account surplus widened to EUR 184 million from EUR 171 million a year earlier.

At the same time, the primary income balance improved, shifting to a surplus of EUR 30 million from a deficit of EUR 44 million, while the secondary income surplus also increased to EUR 88 million from EUR 62 million.

Meanwhile, the goods account deficit widened to EUR 406 million from EUR 338 million.

Latvia Current Account Gap Widens in April
Latvia’s current account deficit widened to EUR 84 million in April 2026, compared with EUR 63 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. The goods account deficit expanded to EUR 357 million from EUR 330 million. At the same time, the secondary income surplus moderated sharply to EUR 75 million from EUR 124 million. On the other hand, the services account surplus increased to EUR 174 million from EUR 162 million, while the primary income account shifted to a EUR 23 million surplus from a EUR 20 million deficit a year earlier.

Latvia Current Account Gap Widens in March
Latvia’s recorded a current account deficit widened to EUR 214 million in March 2026, compared with EUR 189 million deficit in the same month of the previous year. The goods account shortfall expanded to EUR 360 million from EUR 318 million a year earlier, while the primary income account deficit widened to EUR 107 million from EUR 32 million. On the other hand, the services account surplus increased to EUR 171 million from EUR 86 million and the secondary account surplus grew to EUR 82 million from EUR 75 million.
