Ireland Unemployment Rate Steady at 5%

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 5.0% in December 2025, unchanged from the revised figure recorded in the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons increased by 1,400 month-on-month to 148,700.

By gender, the unemployment rate for men edged down to 4.9% from 5.0%, while the rate for women remained stable at 5.0%.

Across age groups, the unemployment rate for individuals aged 15–24 remained unchanged at 13.4%, whereas the rate for those aged 25–74 ticked lower to 3.7% from 3.8% in November.

In December 2024, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was lower at 4.5%.
