Retail sales in Ireland rose by 0.4% month-on-month in June 2026, matching the pace recorded in the previous month.
The largest volume increases were recorded in electrical goods (+1.8%), clothing, footwear, and textiles (+1.5%), bars (+1.2%), books, newspapers, and stationery (+1.2%).
Fuel sales also strengthened, rising 6.0% in value and 0.4% in volume, reflecting elevated fuel prices amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, gains were partly capped by notable declines in furniture and lighting (-1.8%) and pharmaceuticals, medical, and cosmetic articles (-1.4%).
On an annual basis, retail activity grew by 0.6% in June, easing from an upwardly revised 0.9% rise in the preceding period.
