Ireland Wholesale Prices Highest Since 2023

Wholesale prices in Ireland rose 3.5% year-on-year in June 2026, following a 1.6% increase in the previous month and marking the highest level since March 2023.

Producer prices recorded notable year-on-year increases in chemicals and chemical products (11.9%), other non-metallic mineral products (5.9%), fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment (5.7%), pulp, paper and paper products (4.1%), and basic metals (3.8%).

Food products also rose 2.9%, driven by fish and fish products (8.6%) and other food products (5.4%), while food products, beverages, and tobacco increased 2.4%.

Moreover, energy fuels surged 24.5%, electricity prices climbed 42.2%, overall manufactured goods rose 3.5%, and construction products increased 3.1%.

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices fell 0.2% in June, reversing a 0.9% increase in May and marking the first monthly decline after three consecutive months of increases.

Wholesale prices in Ireland rose 1.6% year-on-year in May 2026, following a 1.4% increase in the previous month and marking the second consecutive month of gain after fourteen months of contraction. Producer prices recorded notable increases in chemical and chemical products (11.9%), fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment (4.8%), other non-metallic mineral products (4.5%), and basic metals (4.2%). Food products rose 1.3%, driven by an 8.9% increase in fish and fish products, while food products, beverages, and tobacco prices increased 1% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, energy fuel costs surged 37% and wholesale electricity prices jumped 33.1%. Overall manufacturing prices rose 1.6%, while construction products increased 3.1% compared with the same month last year. On a monthly basis, wholesale prices edged up 0.9% in May from a 0.2% increase in the prior month.

Wholesale prices in Ireland rose 1.4% year-on-year in April 2026, rebounding from a 0.2% decline in the previous month and marking the first increase after fourteen straight months of contraction. Prices rose across several categories, led by chemicals and chemical products (11.9%), fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment (5.0%), pulp, paper and paper products (4.1%), other non-metallic mineral products (3.6%), and printing and reproduction of recorded media (2.7%). Food products also rose 1%, driven mainly by higher prices for fish and fish products (8.6%). Moreover, costs for all energy fuels surged 42.3%, and electricity climbed 18%, while manufacturing increased 1.4% and construction products rose 2%. On a monthly basis, wholesale prices edged up 0.2% in April, easing from a 3.1% increase in the previous month.
