Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Rise 2.95% YoY

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia rose 2.95% year-on-year to 1.52 million in July 2026, rebounding from a 2.15% decline in June as travel demand improved. The recovery highlighted stronger momentum in the tourism sector, supported by seasonal factors and easing constraints on mobility, after recent weakness in visitor flows. Arrivals increased from Malaysia (7.83%), Singapore (2.67%), China (8.45%), Japan (0.59%), the U.S. (1.63%), the Middle East (8.88%), and Australia (8.67%). In contrast, visitors dropped from East Timor (-1.49%), India (-6.72%), and South Korea (-12.13%). Arrivals from the EU also fell 1.35%, mainly from the UK (-2.21%), France (-5.02%), and the Netherlands (-3.51%). In the first seven months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose 5.23% from a year earlier to 8.95 million.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia dropped 2.15% year-on-year to 1.39 million in June 2026, reversing a 5.83% increase in the previous month amid persistent global headwinds, softer travel demand, and ongoing economic uncertainty in several key source markets. Arrivals declined from Singapore (-7.53%), East Timor (-8.93%), India (-12.20%), South Korea (-15.98%), the U.S. (-1.95%), and the Middle East (-8.58%). Visitors from Europe also fell 6.91%, with notable declines from the UK (-7.22%), France (-5.69%), and Germany (-14.95%). In contrast, arrivals increased from Malaysia (9.42%), China (3.51%), Japan (0.45%), and Australia (8.61%). Despite the June setback, foreign tourist arrivals in the first half of 2026 still rose 5.71% from a year earlier to 7.45 million, supported by resilient regional travel demand.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia increased by 5.83% year-on-year to 1.38 million in May 2026, slowing from a 7.22% rise in the previous month as lingering global economic uncertainties and weaker travel demand from Europe tempered the pace of growth. Most visitors originated from Malaysia (25.04%), China (9.38%), Singapore (8.19%), Japan (19.0%), the Middle East (5.67%), Australia (5.0%), the U.S. (1.68%), and Japan (1.90%). In contrast, arrivals fell from India (-6.85%), and South Korea (-9.04%). Those from Europe declined 5.91%, with notable drops from the UK (-5.94%), France (-7.06%), and Germany (-4.17%). During the first five months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose 7.68% from the same period in 2025, to 6.07 million, the highest level for the January–May period since 2020.
