Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Rise 2.95% YoY

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia rose 2.95% year-on-year to 1.52 million in July 2026, rebounding from a 2.15% decline in June as travel demand improved.

The recovery highlighted stronger momentum in the tourism sector, supported by seasonal factors and easing constraints on mobility, after recent weakness in visitor flows.

Arrivals increased from Malaysia (7.83%), Singapore (2.67%), China (8.45%), Japan (0.59%), the U.S.

(1.63%), the Middle East (8.88%), and Australia (8.67%).

In contrast, visitors dropped from East Timor (-1.49%), India (-6.72%), and South Korea (-12.13%).

Arrivals from the EU also fell 1.35%, mainly from the UK (-2.21%), France (-5.02%), and the Netherlands (-3.51%).

In the first seven months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose 5.23% from a year earlier to 8.95 million.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia increased 2.31% year-on-year to 1.43 million in September 2026, slowing from a 6.27% rise in August. The moderation reflected weaker travel demand amid disruptions caused by recent natural disasters and volcanic activity in some parts of the country. Arrivals rose from Singapore (12.69%), China (35.59%), India (5.625), Japan (21.46%), the U.S. (5.46%), the Middle East (10.19%), and Australia (8.46%). In contrast, visitors dropped from Malaysia (-12.19%) and East Timor (-24.56%). Arrivals from the EU fell 0.8%, mainly from the Netherlands (-12.57%), Germany (-6.15%), and France (-5.80%). In the first nine months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose 5.01% from the same period the year earlier to 12.0 million, the highest level since 2020.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia rose 6.27% year-on-year to 1.60 million in August 2026, picking up from a 2.95% increase in the previous month amid seasonal factors and robust travel demand. Arrivals increased from Malaysia (28.95%), Singapore (1.40%), China (15.57%), the U.S. (7.26%), the Middle East (2.86%), and Australia (10.41%). In contrast, visitors dropped from East Timor (-2.38%), India (-4.93%), and Japan (-2.33%). Arrivals from the EU also fell 3.07%, mainly from the Netherlands (-11.44%) and Germany (-3.32%). In the first eight months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose 5.83% from the same period the year earlier to 10.58 million, the highest level since 2020.
