Indonesia Motorbike Sales Rise 1.1% in June

Motorbike sales in Indonesia climbed 1.1% year-on-year to 515,136 units in June 2026, rebounding from a 5.1% fall in the previous month. The increase came despite persistent cost pressures. For the first half of the year, motorbike sales were 0.3% lower than in the same period last year, reaching 3.13 million units. The Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) expects sales to remain relatively stable at around 6.4 million to 6.7 million units this year. Last year, motorbike sales grew 1.3% to 6.4 million units, within the target range of 6.4 million to 6.7 million units set by AISI. However, the growth rate was slightly slower than the 1.5% increase recorded in 2024. On a monthly basis, motorbike sales increased 7.5% in June, recovering from an 8.0% decline in May.

Motorbike sales in Indonesia fell 5.1% year-on-year to 479,388 units in May 2026, after surging 28.1% in the previous month. The decline came as persistent cost pressures weighed on consumer spending. For the first five months of the year, motorbike sales were 0.7% higher compared with the same period last year, reaching 2.61 million units. The Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) expects sales to remain relatively stable at around 6.4 million to 6.7 million units this year. Last year, motorbike sales rose 1.3% to 6.4 million units, within the target range of 6.4 million to 6.7 million units set by AISI. However, the growth rate was slightly slower than the 1.5% increase recorded in 2024. On a monthly basis, motorbike sales fell 8.0% in May, reversing a 16.0% jump in April.

Motorbike sales in Indonesia jumped 28.1% year-on-year to 520,972 units in April 2026, after slumping 17.1% in the previous month. The sharp rebound came as activity returned to normal following the long Eid al-Fitr holiday, which fell in March. For the first four months of the year, motorbike sales were 2.2% higher compared with the same period last year, reaching 2.14 million units. On a monthly basis, motor sales rose 16.0% in April, recovering sharply from a 30.8% plunge in March, when consumers shifted their spending during Ramadan and ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
