Indonesia Consumer Mood Hits One-Year High

Indonesia’s consumer confidence climbed to 127.0 in January 2026 from 123.5 in December 2025, marking the highest level since January 2025.

The increase was driven by improvements in almost all six main sub-indices, with views on current income levels rising by 3.5 points to 123.7, the economic outlook gaining 3.2 points to 138.8, and perceptions of current economic conditions increasing by 3.7 points to 115.1.

At the same time, the index for purchasing durable goods rose by 4.2 points to 111.8 compared with six months ago.

Meanwhile, income expectations for the next six months increased by 5.2 points to 146.0.

By contrast, expectations for job availability over the next six months were unchanged at 135.1.

The decline came as the economic outlook dropped 4.4 points to 134.4. Income expectations for the next six months also deteriorated by 5.3 points to 140.7, while expectations for job availability over the next six months fell by 3.4 points to 131.7. Meanwhile, views of current income levels rose 1.4 points to 125.0, and perceptions of current economic conditions improved slightly, rising 0.8 points to 115.9. The index for purchasing durable goods compared to six months ago also ticked higher by 0.2 points to 112. Job availability compared to six months ago edged up by 0.7 points to 110.7.

The decrease came as most of the six main sub-indices deteriorated, with views of current income levels dropping 1.3 points to 120.2, while the economic outlook fell 1 point to 135.6 and perceptions of current economic conditions edged down 0.1 points to 111.4. At the same time, the index for purchasing durable goods compared to six months ago declined 1.8 points to 107.6. Expectations for job availability over the next six months also decreased, down 0.2 points to 135.1. Meanwhile, job availability compared to six months ago rose 2.8 points to 106.5, and income expectations for the next six months increased by 0.2 points to 140.8.
