Finnish Producer Prices Drop the Most in 5 Months

Producer prices in Finland fell by 0.8% year-on-year in December 2025, following a 0.2% growth in the previous two months.

This marked the lowest reading since July, as prices fell further for manufactured products (-0.9% vs -0.1% in November), particularly in paper and paper products (-8.4% vs -7.6%) and chemical and chemical products (-3.5% vs -0.6%).

In addition, costs declined for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (-2.2% vs 5.7%).

Meanwhile, costs grew for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (4.2% vs 0.6%), while deflation eased in mining and quarrying (-0.3% vs -3.1%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped by 1% in December from a 0.3% gain in the preceding period.

Price growth moderated for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning (5.7% vs 7.8% in October) and for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (0.6% vs 2.0%). Meanwhile, costs fell at a slower pace for both mining and quarrying (-3.1% vs -4.2%) and manufactured products (-0.1% vs -0.3%), supported in particular by easing deflation in chemicals and chemical products and basic metals, along with price increases in other non-metallic mineral products, computer, electronic, and optical products, and machinery and equipment n.e.c. On a monthly basis, producer prices rose by 0.3% in November, unchanged from the preceding month.

Finnish Producer Prices Rebound in October
Producer prices in Finland increased 0.2% year-on-year in October 2025, recovering from a 0.3% decline in the previous month. It marked the fifth increase in producer prices so far this year, supported by a rebound in the costs of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning (7.8% vs -2.5% in September), while price growth moderated for water supply, sewage, waste management, and remediation services (2.0% vs 2.7%). Additionally, prices in mining and quarrying fell at a softer pace (-4.2% vs -4.4%). In contrast, deflation deepened for manufactured products (-0.3% vs -0.1%), weighed down by lower prices for paper and paper products, as well as basic iron and steel and ferro-alloys. On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.3% in October, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in the preceding month.
