Estonia Producer Inflation at 5-Month High

Producer prices in Estonia rose by 3.8% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a 2.7% increase in the previous month. This marked the sixth consecutive month of growth and the fastest pace since January, driven largely by a 24.9% surge (vs -5.8% in May) in prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply. Manufacturing costs (2.6% vs 3.3%) also continued to increase as prices for the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (30.2% vs 52.6%) remained sharply higher, alongside pharmaceutical products (at 8.8%) and rubber and plastic products (7.8%). Additionally, price growth rose faster for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (2.5% vs 2.1%). In contrast, deflation persisted for food production (-3.5% vs -2.9%), textiles (-4.3% vs -5.6%), and repair of machinery and equipment (-3% vs -2.5%). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 0.3% in June, reversing a 1.1% gain in May.

Estonian producer prices rose by 2.7% year-on-year in May 2026 from 1.8% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since January, as costs increased at a faster pace in mining and quarrying (6.3% vs 4.3% in April) and manufacturing (3.3% vs 3.0%), particularly for the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (52.6% vs 45.8%), beverages (5.4% vs 3.3%), rubber and plastic products (6.6% vs 1.8%), leather and related products (3.9% vs 3.2%), wood and wood products (4.5% vs 4.4%), paper and paper products (4.0% vs 2.9%), basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (8.8% vs 8.0%), and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (2.3% vs 1.8%). Deflation in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply also eased (-5.8% vs -14.7%). In contrast, price growth slowed in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (2.1% vs 4.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices picked up to 1.1% after a flat reading in April.

Costs increased at a faster pace in the manufacturing sector (3.0% vs 2.3% in March), supported by sharply higher prices in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum (45.8% vs 31.2%), wearing apparel (4.9% vs 2.8%), leather and related products (3.2% vs 2.1%), wood and wood products (4.4% vs 4.3%), paper and paper products (2.9% vs 0.3%), basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (8.0% vs 5.9%), electrical equipment (2.6% vs 1.9%), and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (2.6% vs 0.9%). Additionally, deflation in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply eased (-14.7% vs -20.1%), while prices remained steady in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (4.1%). In contrast, price growth slowed in mining and quarrying (4.3% vs 7.7%). On a monthly basis, producer prices were unchanged after a 3.6% decline in March.
