Estonia Producer Prices Change at -1.30 percent  
Estonian producer prices dropped by 1.3 percent year-on-year in August 2019, following a 0.2 percent fall in the previous month. It is the second straight month decline in producer prices and the steepest drop since August 2016, as electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply prices decreased faster (-8.7 percent vs -7.2 percent in July) and manufacturing prices went down by 1.2 percent ( vs 0.3 percent). On the other hand, mining and quarrying prices increased faster (7.5 percent vs 6.5 percent), while cost of water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation rose by 0.9 percent, the same pace as in July. On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 0.2 in August, reversing a 0.1 percent rise in a month earlier.

Estonian retail trade increased 4.5 percent year-on-year in July 2019, accelerating from a 2.5 percent gain in the prior month. This was the highest growth in retail trade since April, as sales growth accelerated for: other specialised stores (7.4 percent from 7.0 percent in June); household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials (4.5 percent vs 3.4 percent), and pharmaceutical and medical goods, cosmetics (7.2 percent vs 2.5 percent). In addition, sales rebounded for both automotive fuel (1.8 percent vs -1.8 percent) and second-hand goods and in stalls, markets, direct sale (2.0 percent vs -1.3 percent). Meantime, sales growth slowed for textiles, clothing and footwear (3.3 percent vs 11.8 percent). Conversely, sales of food, beverages and tobacco fell (-3.4 percent vs 12.6 percent). On a monthly basis, retail trade rose 4.6 percent, after a 1.1 percent fall in June.

Estonia GDP Annual Growth Rate at 3.60 percent  
The Estonian economy advanced 3.6 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2019, following an upwardly revised 5 percent growth in the previous period. It was the weakest annual GDP growth rate since the first quarter 2018, amid a slowdown in private consumption (1.1% vs 5.4%) and government spending (0.7% vs 5.9%), while net exports contributed negatively to the GDP growth, as exports grew by 2.2 percent (vs 4.7%), while imports rose at a faster 5.0 percent (vs 4.1%). Meantime, fixed investment continued to rise (24.6% vs 17.8%). On the production side, the main contributors to economic growth were information and communication; professional, scientific & technical activities; wholesale and retail trade, and manufacturing. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the GDP went up by 0.4 percent in the second quarter, slowing from an upwardly revised 0.9 percent growth in Q1.
