Estonian producer price inflation eased to an 11-month low of 2.7 percent year-on-year in December 2017 from 3.3 percent in the previous month, as cost rose at a slower pace for both manufacturing (3.2 percent from 4.5 percent in November) and mining and quarrying (4 percent from 4.4 percent). The Estonian economy advanced 4.2 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, following a 5.7 percent expansion in the previous period, as fixed investment growth slowed (13.2 percent from 18.2 percent in Q2) and net external demand contributed negatively. Exports fell 0.2 percent (1.5 percent in Q2) and imports jumped 4.2 percent (1.3 percent in Q2). Meanwhile, both household consumption (3.5 percent from 1.8 percent in Q2) and government spending (0.9 percent from 0.5 percent in Q2) rose at a faster pace. On the production side, the biggest contributor to GDP growth was construction, followed by information and communications; mining and quarrying; professional, scientific and technical activities; manufacturing; transportation and storage; and support service activities. On a seasonally and working-day adjusted basis, the economy expanded 0.3 percent from the second quarter.
