Estonia Producer Prices Change at 3.70 percent  
Producer prices in Estonia rose 3.7 percent year-on-year in April of 2017, following a 3.1 percent increase in March. Prices went up at a faster pace for both manufacturing (4 percent from 3.5 percent in March) and electricity, gas, steam and water conditioning supply (2.9 percent from 1.5 percent). Meanwhile, cost of mining and quarrying continued to fall (-4.6 percent from -6.5 percent in March), while prices of water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation services were unchanged for the second consecutive month. On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.3 percent after showing no growth in March.

Sales increased the most in stores selling via mail order or the Internet (33 percent from 39 percent in February), followed by: Stores selling household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials (16 percent from 7 percent); stores selling second-hand goods and in markets (15 percent from 16 percent); in non-specialised stores selling predominantly manufactured goods (12 percent from -3 percent); and in other specialised stores, such as stores selling computers and their accessories, books, sports equipment, games and toys, etc. (12 percent from -5 percent). Meanwhile, the turnover of stores selling pharmaceutical goods and cosmetics fell 2 percent (from -5 percent in February) and that of stores selling textiles, clothing and footwear decreased 1 percent (from 4 percent).

The industrial sector grew the most driven by a rise of value added in the information and communication activity due to an increase in software development services. While domestic demand grew by 3.7 percent boosted by an increase of inventories of good and final consumption expenditure. Also, export of goods and services rose 2.7 percent due to a rise in the exports of electronic equipment, mineral products and wood and of products of wood. On a seasonally and working-day adjusted basis, GDP advanced 2.8 percent from the previous year and 1.9 percent from the third quarter of 2016. For full year 2016 economy grew by 1.6 percent, compared to a 1.1 percent expansion in 2015.
