The annual inflation rate in Estonia climbed to 4.2% in October 2026 from 3.5% in the previous month, marking the highest reading since November 2025.
The acceleration was mainly driven by higher transport and housing costs, which rose 13.9% and 7.5%, respectively.
Transport inflation was fueled by sharp increases in gasoline (38.2%) and diesel prices (59.7%), while housing costs were pushed up by higher piped gas, wood fuel and waste collection charges.
Additionally, food inflation turned positive, with prices rising 0.7% after declining in September, led by more expensive vegetables, prepared foods and soft drinks, while prices also increased for alcoholic beverages (6%), healthcare (3.2%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.8%).
In contrast, costs declined for education (-8.4%) and insurance and financial services (-3.1%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.6% in October, slowing from a 0.4% gain in September, which was the fastest rise in eight months.
