Danish Manufacturing Output Rebounds in March

Denmark’s manufacturing production climbed by 8.6% month-on-month in March 2026, rebounding from an upwardly revised 4.5% drop in the previous month.

This marked the strongest growth in manufacturing activity since late September, largely driven by a 37% surge (vs -14.9% in February) in the output of the electronics industry.

Production in the pharmaceutical industry, the most important sector, which accounted for 20% of total manufacturing output, also increased by 15% (vs 8.2%).

Other notable improvements came from transport (19.5% vs -11.1%), rubber, plastic, glass and concrete (15.5% vs -5.4%), and textile, clothing and leather (9.7% vs -5.8%).

Meanwhile, output in the petroleum and chemical (-0.9% vs -5.7%) and machinery industry (-0.6% vs 4.8%) decreased.

On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing activity rose by 20.7% in March, the fastest increase since October 2024, accelerating from a 6.4% gain in February.

Danish Manufacturing Output Slips
Denmark’s manufacturing production slipped 2% month-on-month in February 2026, reversing an upwardly revised 3.3% increase in January. This marked the first monthly decline since November 2025, as output tumbled for motor vehicles (-12.8% vs 7.8%), electronics (-1.6% vs 5.2%), pharmaceuticals (-4.1% vs 7.4%), and textiles, clothing and leather (-7.6% vs 12.8%). Output also continued to contract in petroleum and chemicals (-5.7% vs -0.8%) and rubber, plastic, glass and concrete (-4.9% vs -4.6%), while growth stalled in food, beverages and tobacco (0% vs 1.1%) and slowed markedly in wood, paper and printing (0.1% vs 6.8%). In contrast, production rebounded in metal and metal products (2.2% vs -8.9%), electrical equipment (2% vs -4.4%), and machinery (6.9% vs -3.4%). On a non-seasonally adjusted annual basis, manufacturing growth eased to 6.8% from 12.4% in January.

Danish Manufacturing Output at 4-Month High
Denmark’s manufacturing production rose 3.8% month-on-month in January 2026, following an upwardly revised 1.2% rise in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since September 2025, as output recovered sharply in textiles and leather products (13% vs -1.9%), food, beverages and tobacco (0.3% vs -1.1% in December 2025), wood and paper products (5.8% vs -1.9%), pharmaceutical products (6.9% vs -6.2%), and electrical components (10.7% vs -12.1%). At the same time, activity increased in basic metals (3.4% vs 2%). Meanwhile, output growth slowed in the sales of petroleum and chemical products (1% vs 24.2%) and declined sharply in rubber, plastic, glass, and concrete products (-3.7% vs 1.7%) and transport equipment (-8.1% vs 4.8%). On a non-seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, manufacturing production grew 14.1% in January from an upwardly revised 1.4% gain in the preceding period.
