Danish Manufacturing Output at 4-Month High

Denmark’s manufacturing production rose 3.8% month-on-month in January 2026, following an upwardly revised 1.2% rise in the previous month.

This marked the highest reading since September 2025, as output recovered sharply in textiles and leather products (13% vs -1.9%), food, beverages and tobacco (0.3% vs -1.1% in December 2025), wood and paper products (5.8% vs -1.9%), pharmaceutical products (6.9% vs -6.2%), and electrical components (10.7% vs -12.1%).

At the same time, activity increased in basic metals (3.4% vs 2%).

Meanwhile, output growth slowed in the sales of petroleum and chemical products (1% vs 24.2%) and declined sharply in rubber, plastic, glass, and concrete products (-3.7% vs 1.7%) and transport equipment (-8.1% vs 4.8%).

On a non-seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, manufacturing production grew 14.1% in January from an upwardly revised 1.4% gain in the preceding period.

Danish Manufacturing Output Drops For Third Month
Denmark’s manufacturing production fell 1% month-on-month in December 2025, slowing from an upwardly revised 5.8% drop in the previous month. This marked the third consecutive month of decline, albeit at a softer pace as output recovered for chemicals and oil refineries (24.2% vs -26.1% in November), basic metals (2% vs -13.1%), electrical equipment (3.3% vs -6.2%), and transport equipment (4.8% vs -0.7%). At the same time, contraction eased for food, beverages, and tobacco (-1.1% vs -2.5%), paper products and printing (-1.9% vs -2.2%), and pharmaceuticals (-6.2% vs -10.9%). On the other hand, activity declined for textiles and leather products (-1.9% vs 0.5%), electrical components (-12.1% vs 1.2%), and machinery (-1.2% vs 2%). On a non-seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, manufacturing production decreased by 6.7% in December, following a downwardly revised 2.5% drop in the preceding period.

Danish Manufacturing Output Drops 5.7% in November
Denmark’s manufacturing production fell 5.7% month-on-month in November 2025, following an upwardly revised 4.0% decline in the previous month. It marked the second consecutive monthly drop and was mainly driven by a sharp contraction in the pharmaceutical industry (-10.8% vs -11.6% in October). With a weight of 20.9% in the overall index, this industry group contributed the most to the overall decline. Production also contracted in transport equipment (-7.5% vs -25.9%), plastic, glass & concrete (-8.5% vs -3.0%), electronic components (-3.4% vs -1.4%), and metal and fabricated metal products (-6.0% vs 21.0%). On a non-seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, manufacturing output fell 2.6% in November, reversing an upwardly revised 0.8% rise in October.
