Czech Jobless Rate Hits 5-Month Low

The Czech unemployment rate edged down to 4.8% in May 2026 from 4.9% in the previous month, in line with market expectations.

It marked the lowest level since December 2025, driven by continued seasonal hiring and the ongoing economic recovery.

The number of unemployed persons fell by 5,620 month-on-month to 358,852, though it remained 42,792 higher than in the same month a year earlier.

Meanwhile, nearly 42% of newly employed job seekers started their own businesses, with men accounting for 76.5% of the total and women for 23.5%.

The number of registered job vacancies declined by 103 from the previous month to 94,380.

The Czech unemployment rate edged down to 4.9% in April 2026 from 5.0% in the previous month, slightly above market expectations of 4.8%. This was driven by continued seasonal employment and the economic recovery, bringing the jobless rate to its lowest level since December 2025. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 7,866 month-on-month to 364,472 but was still up by 45,932 compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, the number of registered job vacancies rose by 2,938 from the previous month to 94,483.

The Czech unemployment rate fell to 5% in March 2026 from 5.2% in the previous month, slightly below the market expectations of 5.1%. The number of unemployed individuals declined by 9,367 over a month to reach 372,338 but increased by 50,198 compared to the same month last year. Meanwhile, the number of registered job vacancies rose by 1,840 from a month earlier to 91,545.
