Czech Producer Prices Fall More Than Expected

Producer prices in the Czech Republic declined by 3.0% year-on-year in January 2026, more than market forecasts of a 2.4% fall and December’s 2.1% drop.

This was the twelfth consecutive month of falling producer prices and the sharpest since August 2016.

Prices for manufacturing decreased further (-1.8% vs -1.1% in December), led by motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers (-2.4% vs -2.0%) and food products (-1.6% vs 0.5%).

Prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply fell sharply (-7.4% vs -5.6%).

Costs in the mining and quarrying sector also continued to fall, albeit at a slower pace (-1.9% vs -4.2%).

In addition, inflation for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services eased to 3.9% from 4.1%.

On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped by 0.7%, the biggest fall in nine months, following a 0.2% decrease in the previous month.

Czech Producer Deflation Steepest Since 2016
Producer prices in the Czech Republic fell by 2.1% year-on-year in December 2025, worse than market expectations of a 0.9% decline and compared with a 1.3% fall recorded in the previous month. This marked the steepest producer deflation since September 2016, driven mainly by continued price decreases in the manufacturing sector (-1.1% vs -0.8% in November), particularly in chemicals and chemical products (-8.1%) and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (-2%). Moreover, deflation intensified in mining and quarrying (-4.2% vs -4.1%) and electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (-5.6% vs -3.2%). Meanwhile, prices for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services were unchanged at 4.1%. On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 0.2% in December, reversing a 0.3% increase in the previous month.

Czech Producer Deflation Sharpest in 7 Months
Producer prices in the Czech Republic dropped by 1.3% year-on-year in November 2025, below market forecasts of a 1.6% decline but slipping further from a 1.2% fall in the previous month. The latest figure marked the tenth consecutive month of decline and the sharpest since April, driven by lower prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-3.2% vs -2.6% in October). Additionally, costs continued to decrease in the manufacturing sector (-0.8% vs -0.7%), with prices falling mainly for chemicals and chemical products (-8.4%) and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (-2.5%), while deflation remained unchanged for mining and quarrying (at 4.1%). On the other hand, producer inflation remained steady for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (at 4.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose by 0.3% in November, rebounding from a 0.1% loss in the preceding period.
