Czech Republic Industrial Production at 6-Month Low

Industrial production in the Czech Republic rose 0.9% year-on-year in March 2026, slowing from 1.3% in the previous month and coming in below market expectations of 1.9%.

This marked the weakest growth since September 2025, as manufacturing output moderated to 1.7% from 2.4% in February.

Across the manufacturing sector, activity was dragged down by sharp declines in wearing apparel (-7.6% vs 4.2%) and pharmaceutical products (-5% vs 4.5%), while growth also moderated for wood products excluding furniture, articles of straw and plaiting materials (1.7% vs 3.1%) and paper and paper products (1.6% vs 4.3%).

Meanwhile, contractions softened in mining and quarrying (-5.9% vs -6%) and in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-4.9% vs -6.7%).

On a monthly basis, industrial production slipped 0.2% in March, reversing from a 1.3% increase in February.

Industrial production in the Czech Republic increased 1.3% year-on-year in February 2026, following a downwardly revised 2.7% rise in January and compared to forecasts of 1.5%. Manufacturing growth increased slightly to 2.4% from 2.2%, with the strongest contributions coming from fabricated metal products (8.5% vs 5.3%) and the automotive industry (15.1% vs 42%). Growth in computer, electronic, and optical products (14.9% vs -7.5%%) was partly supported by a low base of comparison from the previous year. Meanwhile, the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector shrunk 6.7% (vs +7% in January), largely reflecting planned shutdowns at several power plants. Czech Republic Industrial Output at 3-Month Low
Industrial production in the Czech Republic rose by 2.8% year-on-year in January 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 4.9% increase in the previous month and falling short of market expectations of a 4.1% gain. It marked the weakest growth since October 2025, as manufacturing output slowed (2.3% vs 5.8% in December), particularly in the manufacture of textiles (0.5% vs 3.4%), chemicals and chemical preparations (1% vs 8.1%), rubber and plastic products (7.4% vs 4.9%), and other transport equipment (37.6% vs 54.4%). Overall industrial production was also weighed down by mining and quarrying, which declined by 1.9% after an 8.8% gain in the previous month. In contrast, output rebounded in electricity, gas, heat and air-conditioning supply (7% vs -2.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity fell 2.6% in January 2026, reversing an upwardly revised 1.1% increase in the prior month.
