Czech Construction Output at 7-Month Low

Construction output in the Czech Republic rose by 5.3% year-on-year in December 2025, easing from an upwardly revised 6.2% increase in the previous month. Growth slowed sharply in building constructions (2.3% vs 8.1% in November). Meanwhile, output grew in civil engineering works (10.9% vs 3.3%). The approximate value of building permits granted surged by 54.7% year-on-year to CZK 36 billion in December. Additionally, the number of dwellings, such as family houses and multi-dwelling buildings, increased by 11.2% to 2,774, while completed dwellings jumped by 56.1% to 2,988. On a monthly basis, construction activity increased by 1.7%, following a flat reading in the preceding period.

This marked the weakest expansion since April, mainly due to slower growth in both building constructions (8.1% vs 9.6% in October), and civil engineering works (3.2% vs 3.3%). The approximate value of building permits granted increased by 1% year-on-year to CZK 43.5 billion in November. Meanwhile, the number of dwellings started such as family houses and multi-dwelling buildings surge by 20.8% to 4,353, while completed dwellings also increased by 4.4% to 2,371. On a monthly basis, construction activity fell by 0.1% in November.

Construction output in the Czech Republic increased by 7.1% year-on-year in October 2025, slowing from an upwardly revised 13.1% gain in the previous month. It marked the weakest growth since April, primarily due to a notable slowdown in both civil engineering works (3.3% vs 13.5% in September) and building constructions (9.6% vs 12.8%). The approximate value of building permits granted increased by 7.3% year-on-year in October, reaching CZK 46.6 billion, while the number of dwellings started soared by 34% to 3,457. On a monthly basis, construction activity was 0.4% lower in October.
