Wheat futures slid toward $5.10 per bushel, as an overwhelming surge in global supply continues to outpace demand.
USDA based estimates cited by Cepea point to a record 2025/26 global harvest of roughly 842.17 million tonnes versus consumption near 823.9 million tonnes, lifting ending stocks and the stocks to use ratio and stripping out the scarcity premium that had previously supported prices.
Regional dynamics have reinforced the pressure, with Argentina’s large and competitively priced crop and near record yields across the Constanta Varna Burgas region flooding export channels.
