US crude futures were little changed around $58 per barrel on Wednesday, hovering near one-month lows, as expectations of rising supply weighed on prices.
Growing optimism over a potential Ukrainian peace agreement which could ease restrictions on Russian oil, added to the downward pressure.
President Trump said “there are only a few remaining points of disagreement,” while Ukrainian President Zelenskiy told European leaders he was ready to move forward with a US-backed framework to end the war with Russia.
Meanwhile, EIA data showed US crude inventories rose by 2.774 million barrels last week, defying expectations for a 0.5 million-barrel decline, while US petroleum product exports climbed to a record high.
