Arabica coffee futures eased to near $4.1 per pound, following the removal of the remaining 40% tariff on Brazilian agricultural goods, including green coffee.
However, the exemption does not cover instant coffee, meaning that negotiations between Brazilian officials and the US government will continue on this matter.
Brazil, the world's largest producer and exporter of coffee, supplies the United States, the world’s largest coffee consumer, with about one-third of its coffee demand.
At the same time, forecasts of favorable weather in Brazil weighed on prices.
Climatempo predicted heavy rainfall to continue through this week in Brazil's coffee-growing regions, which should provide favorable conditions for the development of the next crop.
