Brent Crude Oil Rises for 2nd Session

Brent crude oil futures rose above $71 per barrel on Thursday, near the highest since July 31, and extending a 4.4% gain from the previous session, as rising tensions between the United States and Iran raised fears of supply disruption.
A report from Axios said a major US military operation in the Middle East could begin soon, with Israel pushing for regime change in Tehran.
The head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog warned Iran’s window for a diplomatic deal is narrowing amid a US military build up.
Any conflict could threaten flows from a region producing about a third of global oil and shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, industry data showed US crude oil inventories fell by 0.61 million barrels last week, partially offsetting a 13.4 million-barrel surge in the prior week, the sharpest increase since January 2023.
