The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, fell about 1.6% to its lowest since July 2025 at 1,851 points, erasing the previous session’s mild 0.3% gain.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, continued to fall for the eight straight day, down 1.9% to 3,049 points; and the supramax index shed 33 points at 1,043 points.
Conversely, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose about 0.9% to 1,293 points.
