Colombia Leading Economic Index at Fourth Straight Slowdown

Colombia’s leading economic indicator rose 1.55% year-on-year in January 2026, following a 1.76% gain in December.

This marks the fourth straight monthly slowdown and the weakest pace since April 2025.

The tertiary sector led growth at 2.73%, while the primary sector fell 2.39% and the secondary sector declined 0.97%.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall economic activity edged down 0.07%.

Colombia’s Economic Activity Slows in December
Colombia’s leading economic indicator rose by 1.7% year-on-year in December 2025, following a downwardly revised 2.5% advance in the prior month. This represents the third straight monthly slowdown, with activity at its weakest level since April 2025. Growth in services (2.8%) was outweighed by contractions in both primary (-1.1%) and secondary (1%) activities. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall economic activity increased by 1.6% in December. Considering the whole year of 2025, Colombian economic activity expanded by 2.7%, up from 1.6% in the year before.

Colombia Leading Indicator Growth Accelerates in November
Colombia’s leading economic indicator rose 3.08% year-on-year in November 2025, accelerating from a 2.95% increase in October. Growth was driven by the services sector, which expanded 4.22%, while industrial activity slipped 0.08% and primary activities declined 0.09%. On a seasonally and calendar-adjusted basis, overall economic activity fell 1.08% month-on-month, reversing from a 0.21% gain in the previous month.
