Colombia Consumer Confidence Improves In May

Colombia’s Consumer Confidence Index rose 4.1 percentage points to 17.8% in May 2026 from April, supported by a 6.8 percentage point increase in the Consumer Expectations Index to 26.7%.

Households’ economic outlook improved to 42.1% from 40.2%.

Expectations for the general economy rose to 21.1% from 10.2%, while expectations for the country’s future economic conditions increased to 16.8% from 9.2%.

Meanwhile, the Economic Conditions Index fell 0.1 percentage point.

Assessments of households’ current economic situation weakened to 3.1% from 5.7%, while willingness to purchase durable goods rose to 5.8% from 3.3%.

Compared to May 2025, the Consumer Confidence Index was up 21.6 percentage points.

Colombia’s Consumer Confidence Index fell 3.6 percentage points to 20.7% in July 2026 from 24.3% in June. The decline was driven by a 7.4-point drop in the Economic Conditions Index to 6.4%, while the Consumer Expectations Index fell 1.1 points to 30.3%. The share of respondents expecting “good economic times” over the next 12 months declined to 24.8% from 31.3%. Meanwhile, expectations for an improvement in the national economy rose to 24.3% from 22.5%, while households reported a better outlook for their current financial situation, with the indicator rising to 41.8% from 40.2%. The share of respondents reporting a deterioration in their household’s financial condition fell slightly to 11.1% from 11.5%. Meanwhile, willingness to purchase durable goods slumped to 1.7% from 16.1%.

Colombia’s Consumer Confidence Index rose 6.5 percentage points to 24.3% in June 2026 from 17.8% in May. The Consumer Expectations Index climbed to 31.4% in June from 26.7% in May, while the Current Economic Conditions Index rose to 13.8% from 4.4%. Consumers became more optimistic about both their household finances and the country's economic outlook. The share of respondents expecting "good economic times" over the next 12 months increased to 31.3% from 21.1%, while expectations for an improvement in the national economy rose to 22.5% from 16.8%. Households also reported a better assessment of their current financial situation. The balance of respondents who said their household's financial condition was better than a year earlier increased to 11.5% from 3.1%. Meanwhile, willingness to purchase durable goods jumped to 16.1% from 5.8%.
