Colombia Trade Deficit Widens Sharply in October

Colombia’s trade deficit widened to $2.28 billion in October 2025 from $1.42 billion a year earlier.
Imports increased 14.9% year-on-year to $6.58 billion, with a 20.2% surge in manufactured goods purchases.
Within manufacturing, machinery and transport equipment imports jumped 24.7%, while chemicals and related products rose 14.9%.
Imports of agricultural, food and beverage products grew 13.1%, amid higher purchases of food products and live animals (17.5%).
By contrast, imports of fuels and extractive industry products fell 12.6%, largely due to a sharp drop in natural and manufactured gas purchases (-56.9%).
Meanwhile, exports edged down 0.2% year-on-year, weighed by a 19.0% decline in fuels and extractive products, amid lower petroleum and petroleum product exports (-22.1%).
