Chile Unemployment Steady in July

Chile’s unemployment rate rose to 8.7% in the May–July 2025 period, matching the 8.7% in the same period last year and below market expectations of 9.1%.

The increase was driven by a 0.7% rise in the labor force to 4,580,031, while the number of employed individuals edged up 0.2% to 4,156,809.

As a result, the number of unemployed rose 6.0% to 423,222, driven mainly by those classified as cesantes (people who lost their jobs).

By gender, the unemployment rate was 10.2% for women and 8.5% for men.
