Chile's annual inflation rate slowed to 4.4% in May 2025 from 4.5% in April, marking the 17th consecutive month that inflation remained above the Chilean Central Bank's 2% - 4% target.
The decline was driven by price deceleration in 9 of the 13 subsectors.
Inflation fell for recreation and culture (1.9% vs. 2.2%), home maintenance (1.7% vs. 2.7%) and restaurants and hotels (6.4% versus 6.7%), while transportation prices swung to deflation (-0.1% vs. 0.4%).
On the other hand, prices rose in food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.6% versus 4.4% in April) and housing and public services (10.9% versus 10.6%).
In the monthly comparison, consumer prices increased by 0.2% in May, remaining stable compared to the 0.2% recorded in the previous month and in line with market projections.
