Argentina Retail Sales Rise In April

Argentina’s retail sales rose 12.6% year-on-year in April 2026 to ARS 560.96 billion.

By category, sportswear and accessories posted the strongest gain, rising 25.5%.

Food courts, food products, and kiosks increased 22.3%, while stationery and bookstores rose 27.9%.

Entertainment and leisure advanced 26.5%, and perfumes and pharmacies recorded one of the strongest gains at 31.9%.

Clothing, footwear, and leather goods rose a more modest 5.3%.

In contrast, electronics, appliances, and computing sales fell 10.9%.

By region, sales in Buenos Aires rose 20.9%, while the 24 districts of Greater Buenos Aires posted a 6.5% increase.

The Pampas region recorded a 12.7% gain, while the Cuyo region rose 17.6%.

Meanwhile, the Northern and Patagonia regions posted increases of 3.3% and 10.3%, respectively.

Argentina Retail Sales Growth Slows Sharply
Argentina’s retail sales rose 3.6% year-on-year in March 2026 to ARS 552.97 billion, slowing sharply from an 18% jump in February. At current prices, the strongest gains were recorded in perfumery and pharmacies (21.6%), furniture, home décor and household textiles (16.5%), sportswear and sporting goods (15.2%), food courts, food and kiosks (10.7%), and books and stationery (10.1%). In contrast, sales of electronics, home appliances and computers fell 7.8%, while toys declined 6%. In the City of Buenos Aires, total sales at current prices reached ARS 171.13 billion, up 13.3%, while sales in the 24 districts of Greater Buenos Aires fell 5.2% to ARS 172.43 billion. At constant prices, retail sales declined 13.3%.

Argentina Retail Sales Growth Slows in February
Retail sales in Argentina rose 17.9% year-on-year in February 2026 to ARS 495,867 million, slowing from a 20.7% increase in January. At current prices, the strongest gains were recorded in entertainment and leisure (33.4%), perfumery and pharmacy (33.1%), bookstores and stationery (32.2%), and food courts, food products, and kiosks (30.7%). Electronics, household appliances, and computing was the only category posting a decline, falling 20.1%. Sales in the Buenos Aires grew 23.6% to ARS 136,908 million, while Greater Buenos Aires posted an 11.1% rise to ARS 158,884 million. At constant prices, retail sales fell 2.1% year-on-year.
