Argentina Manufacturing Output Falls in July

Argentina’s manufacturing output fell 4.9% year-on-year in July 2026, extending a 2.6% decline in the first seven months of the year. Twelve of the 16 manufacturing divisions posted annual declines. The steepest falls came from other equipment, appliances and instruments (-31.4%), machinery and equipment (-26.7%), clothing, leather and footwear (-15.9%), textiles (-13.0%), non-metallic mineral products (-12.6%), tobacco products (-12.3%), rubber and plastic products (-9.1%), furniture and other manufacturing (-9.1%), metal products (-8.4%), motor vehicles and auto parts (-5.4%), chemicals (-1.3%), and food and beverages (-0.5%). Meanwhile, output increased in petroleum refining (8.1%), wood, paper and printing (7.1%), other transport equipment (2.6%), and basic metals (1.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, manufacturing output fell 5.0% in July, while the trend-cycle index declined 0.9%.

Argentina’s industrial production grew by 2% year-on-year in June 2026, recovering from a downwardly revised 5.6% drop in the previous month. Ten of the 16 manufacturing sectors posted annual increases. The strongest gains came from basic metals (11.8%), chemicals and chemical products (11.0%), other transport equipment (7.2%), food and beverages (6.2%), wood, paper and printing (8.4%), metal products (3.6%), petroleum refining (3.4%), furniture and other manufacturing (3.4%), and tobacco products (0.4%). Meanwhile, output declined in other equipment, appliances and instruments (-25.3%), machinery and equipment (-16.8%), textiles (-15.9%), apparel, leather and footwear (-8.4%), non-metallic mineral products (-7.2%), motor vehicles and auto parts (-3.5%), and rubber and plastic products (-2.9%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.9%, accelerating from an downwardly revised 0.3% gain in May.

The largest drags came from machinery and equipment (-23.4%), food and beverages (-3.0%), motor vehicles and auto parts (-15.9%), apparel, leather and footwear (-14.7%), textiles (-26.2%), and chemicals (-3.1%). Other sectors posting declines included rubber and plastics (-10.2%), other equipment and instruments (-12.5%), basic metals (-4.0%), furniture and other manufacturing (-7.3%), wood, paper and printing (-2.9%), non-metallic minerals (-2.3%), other transport equipment (-9.9%), and metal products (-1.2%). In contrast, petroleum refining (19.4%) and tobacco products (14.6%) recorded solid growth. On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.4%.
