Argentina Consumer Confidence Falls in December

Argentina’s Consumer Confidence Index fell 1.1% month-over-month to 45.5 in December 2025, marking the first decline since September.

Both current conditions and future expectations weakened.

The current conditions index dropped 1.70% from November, while future expectations decreased 0.66%.

Among sub-indices, durable goods and real estate fell 3.38%, the macroeconomic situation declined 0.53%, and the personal situation edged up 0.03%.

Regionally, Buenos Aires city posted the largest monthly increase, at 21.01%, while Greater Buenos Aires recorded a 2.49% decline.

By income level, confidence was unchanged among high-income households but fell 4.47% among low-income households.

On a year-on-year basis, the index declined 1.04% from December 2024.

Argentina’s Consumer Confidence Index fell 4.7% month-on-month to 44 in February 2026, marking its weakest level since October 2025. All subcomponents posted declines, led by Personal Situation (-7.62%) and Macroeconomic Situation (-5.37%), while Durable Goods and Real Estate was broadly stable (-0.02%). By income, confidence dropped across both segments, with a sharper fall among high-income households (-5.24%) than lower-income households (-2.28%). Regionally, declines were widespread, led by Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (-7.77%) and Gran Buenos Aires (-5.35%), while the Interior recorded a milder contraction (-2.26%). On a yearly basis, the index was down 6.09% from February 2025.

Argentina’s Consumer Confidence Index rose 2.2% month-over-month to 46.6 in January 2026, resuming its recovery after the previous month’s decline to the highest level in eleven months. Current conditions strengthened while future expectations weakened. The current conditions index increased 7.88% from December, while future expectations fell 1.40%. Among sub-indices, durable goods and real estate rose 9.90%, the macroeconomic situation declined 2.23%, and the personal situation increased 1.83%. Regionally, the Interior posted the largest monthly increase, at 7.90%, while Greater Buenos Aires recorded a marginal 0.07% decline. By income level, confidence increased 1.27% among high-income households and rose 3.32% among low-income households. On a year-on-year basis, the index declined 1.72% from January 2025.
