Uganda’s GDP Posts Solid Growth Despite Slowdown

Uganda's GDP grew by 5.3% year-on-year in Q4 2024, slowing from 6.7% in the previous quarter, marking the weakest expansion since Q1 2023, but still solid.
The increase was mainly driven by secondary activities, which rose by 8.4% (up from 5.9% in Q3), and primary activities, which grew by 7.2% (down from 8.7%).
The services sector also saw growth, but at a slower rate of 2% compared to 5.6% in the prior quarter.
On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the GDP rose by 0.4% in Q4, slowing from a 1.6% increase in the prior period.
