Spain’s registered unemployment rose by 22,101 people in October compared to September, more than market expectations of 5,200, and bringing the total number of jobless individuals to 2,443,766.
By sector, joblessness fell in construction (-2,121) but increased in services (+18,496), agriculture (+1,270), and industry (+1,148).
The group without previous employment also saw an increase of 3,308 people.
Youth unemployment (under 25) rose by 10,082, while unemployment among those aged 25 and over climbed by 12,019.
All 17 autonomous communities recorded higher unemployment, led by Castilla y León (+2,545), Andalusia (+2,535), and Catalonia (+2,423).
Among provinces, unemployment fell in just five, notably Valencia (-958), Córdoba (-288), and Almería (-263); while rising in the remaining 47, with the largest increases seen in Madrid (+2,281), the Balearic Islands (+1,631), and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (+1,503).
