The HCOB Spain Manufacturing PMI rose to 54.3 in August 2025 from 51.9 in July, surpassing forecasts of 52.
This was the strongest improvement in operating conditions since October 2024, driven by sharper rises in both output and new orders, supported by stronger domestic demand and effective marketing campaigns.
Export sales also increased modestly, recording their fastest growth so far this year.
Rising workloads led to the steepest build-up of backlogs in 10 months, prompting firms to expand employment for the sixth consecutive month and at the quickest pace since December 2024.
Purchasing activity rose for the first time in seven months, though vendor performance weakened amid delivery delays and stock shortages.
On prices, input costs rose modestly, while output charges climbed at the fastest rate in five months.
Business confidence strengthened to a six-month high, underpinned by expectations of sustained growth and new investment in capacity.
