Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Reach Record in August

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose by 6.0% year-on-year to 1,286 million in August 2026 from an eleven-month high of 10.6% growth in the previous month.

This marked the highest number of arrivals on record.

Foreign tourist arrivals increased by 7.6% to 1,116 million, with visitors mainly coming from the Czech Republic (8.6%), Italy (8.3%), and Germany (6.7%), offsetting the declines in the Netherlands (-3.6%) and France (-4.5%).

Meanwhile, domestic tourism fell by 3.5% to 169.8 thousand.

Overnight stays went up by 5.8% to 3,537 million, with most tourists staying in mountain municipalities (7.7%), urban municipalities (6.4%), the capital (5.5%), and health resorts (5.4%).

For the January–August period, tourist arrivals grew by 6.4% year-on-year to 5,390.5 million, while overnight stays also rose by 6.4% to 14,078.4 million.

Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Soar in July
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia jumped by 10.6% year-on-year to 1,163 million in July 2026, the highest level since August 2025, following a 1.9% rise in the previous month. Foreign tourist arrivals rose by 10.9% to 1,014 million, with visitors mainly coming from the Czech Republic (24.0%), Poland (18.5%), Germany (14.0%), Hungary (11.0%), and the Netherlands (5.2%). Moreover, domestic tourism grew by 8.9% to 148.9 thousand. Overnight stays went up by 8.9% to 3,256 million, with most tourists staying in the mountain resorts (13.8%), urban municipalities (10.5%), the capital (7.5%), and other municipalities (9.4%). For the January–July period, tourist arrivals increased by 6.6% year-on-year to 4,104.6 million, while overnight stays rose by 6.6% to 10,541.2 million.

Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Up 1.9% in June
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia increased by 1.9% year-on-year to nearly 810 thousand in June 2026, the highest level since August 2025, following a 10.1% rise in the previous month. Foreign tourist arrivals grew by 2.1% to 652.5 thousand, with visitors mainly coming from Czech Republic (14.3%), Poland (15.2%), and the UK (26.1%), while arrivals declined from Germany (-16.9%) and Austria (-9.1%). Domestic tourism rose by 1.1% to 157.5 thousand. Overnight stays went up by 1.5% to around 2 million, with most tourists staying in mountain resorts (5.1%), health resorts (1.7%), and the capital (0.9%). In the first half of the year, total tourist arrivals increased by 5.0% year-on-year to 2.941 million, while overnight stays rose by 5.7% to 7.285 million.
