Slovenia's retail sales rose 1.8% year-on-year in May 2026, slowing from a downwardly revised 3.3% increase in the previous month.
It marked the lowest reading since February, largely driven by a 2.3% decline in food retail segment.
Meanwhile, motor fuel sales climbed 13.3%, while non-food retail sales grew 1.6%.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales fell 0.3% in May, easing from an upwardly revised 1.0% decline in April.
For the January–May period, retail turnover was 1.8% higher than in the corresponding period of 2025.
Growth was led by motor fuel sales, which climbed 7.5%, and non-food retail sales, which advanced 2.8%.
In contrast, food retail sales declined 1.6%, highlighting persistent weakness in consumer spending within the segment.
