Slovenia Industrial Output Drops Sharply

Industrial production in Slovenia fell 4.1% year-on-year in December 2025, worsening from a 1.8% decline in November and marking the steepest drop since June.

Activity went down sharply for manufacturing, declining 4.5% after a 1.5% fall in the previous month, while output in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply also remained in negative territory, though the pace of decline eased (-1.4% vs -6.9%).

At the same time, growth in mining and quarrying slowed to 2.5% from 9.2%.

By industrial grouping, output fell for intermediate goods (-1.7%), capital goods (-2.5%), and consumer goods (-9.8%).

On a monthly basis, industrial activity dropped 1.4%, deepening from a 0.4% decline in November.

For the whole of 2025, industrial production was 1.8% lower than in the previous year.

Industrial production in Slovenia fell 0.9% year-on-year in November 2025, following a downwardly revised 3.0% decline in the previous month, marking the fourth consecutive month of decline in industrial activity. Output dropped sharply in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-7.1% vs 0.0% in October), while manufacturing continued to decline but at a softer pace (-0.5% vs -3.1%). The overall drop was partially offset by a rebound in mining & quarrying (5.3% vs -2.0%). Year-to-date, industrial output was 1.5% lower compared with the same period a year earlier. On a monthly basis, industrial activity edged up 0.3% in November, following a flat reading in October.

Industrial production in Slovenia fell by 2% year-on-year in October 2025, following a downwardly revised 1.0% decrease in the previous month, marking the third consecutive month of decline in industrial activity. Output continued to drop in both manufacturing (-1.8%) and mining & quarrying (-13.2%), while production of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply were flat. On a monthly basis, industrial activity rose by 0.8% in October, easing from a 1.3% rise in September. Year-to-date, industrial output was 1.5% lower compared with the same period a year earlier.
