Slovenia Consumer Morale Unchanged in March

The consumer confidence indicator in Slovenia remained at -22 in March 2026, unchanged from the previous month.

Households expressed slightly more pessimism about the general economic outlook over the next year (-27 vs -26 in February) and their personal financial outlook over the next twelve months (-13 vs -12).

Expectations for major purchases continued to deteriorate (-32 vs -31).

On a brighter note, households expressed slightly less concern about unemployment over the year ahead (24 vs 25).

Assessment of price movements over the past twelve months remained unchanged at 68, while price expectations for the year ahead rose sharply to 63 from 52 in February.

The consumer confidence indicator in Slovenia increased by 4 percentage points month-on-month to -28 in May 2026, improving from a thirty-month low of -32 in the previous month. Households expressed less pessimism about their expectations for the general economic outlook over the next twelve months (-35 vs -47 in April), alongside their personal financial outlook over the same period (-20 vs -27). Assessments also improved regarding households’ financial situation over the year (-20 vs -22), while views on the general economic situation over the same period remained unchanged (-43). On the other hand, expectations for major purchases over the next twelve months deteriorated slightly (-35 vs -34), as did assessments of major purchases at present (-31 vs -30).

Slovenia Consumer Sentiment Falls to 30-Month Low
The consumer confidence indicator in Slovenia plunged by 10 percentage points month-on-month to -32 in April 2026, from -22 in each of the previous two months. This marked the lowest reading since October 2023, as households turned significantly more pessimistic about the general economic outlook over the next year, with the indicator slumping to -47 from -27. In addition, households grew more negative about their personal financial outlook over the next 12 months (-27 vs -13 in March) and savings (-25 vs -12). Expectations for major purchases in the year ahead (-34 vs -32) also deteriorated, while concerns over the unemployment rate (26 vs 24) increased further. At the same time, perceptions of price developments over the past twelve months remained unchanged at 68, while inflation expectations for the year ahead rose to 71 from 63.
