Slovenia Trade Deficit Narrows in October

Slovenia’s trade deficit narrowed significantly to EUR 424.6 million in October 2025, from EUR 3,175.8 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Exports rose by 0.8% year-on-year to EUR 5,891.3 million, due to higher sales to both EU (1.3%) and non-EU (0.3%) countries.

In contrast, imports fell sharply by 30% to EUR 6,315.9 million, largely due to a steep decline in purchases from non-EU countries (-45.4%), while imports from EU countries increased (3.4%).

Considering January to October, the country posted a surplus of EUR 2,060.7 million, a significant shift from a trade deficit of EUR 6,421 million in the corresponding period last year.

Slovenia’s trade deficit narrowed sharply to EUR 210.7 million in December 2025 from EUR 891.3 million in the corresponding period of the previous year. Exports climbed 13.3% year-on-year to EUR 5,363.4 million, due to higher sales to both the EU (1.5%) and non-EU countries (23.7%). On the other hand, imports fell by 0.9% to EUR 5,574 million, largely driven by a drop in purchases from non-EU countries (-3%), while arrivals increased from the EU (1.6%). Considering the entire year, the country posted a surplus of EUR 1,488.4 million, reversing a trade deficit of EUR 7,701.7 million recorded in the same period last year.

Slovenia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 339.7 million in November 2025, from EUR 389.4 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports rose by 0.2% year-on-year to EUR 5,463.2 million, due to higher sales to the EU (1.6%), while shipments decreased for non-EU countries (-1.1%). On the other hand, imports fell by 0.6% to EUR 5,802.9 million, largely due to a decline in purchases from both EU (-0.9%) and non-EU countries (-0.3%). Considering January to November, the country posted a surplus of EUR 1,709.7 million, reversing a trade deficit of EUR 6,810 million recorded in the same period last year.
