Slovakia Industrial Output Near 3-Year Low

Industrial production in Slovakia dropped by 4.5% year-on-year in November 2025, slipping further from a 3.8% fall in the previous month. This marked the second straight month of decline and the ninth contraction this year, led by electricity and gas supply, which plunged 18.8%, the sharpest fall since March 2022, following a 15.5% fall in October. Transport equipment output also weighed, dropping 6.7%, the third weakest monthly result since March 2024, partly due to a high comparison base. Meanwhile, the most positive impact came from metal production, rising 5.2% from 2.8% in the prior month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output increased by 0.9%. Considering the January to November period, overall industrial production decreased by 2.6% compared with the same period last year, with electricity & gas supply, metal production, and machinery & equipment being the largest drags, while gains in transport equipment partially offset losses.

Slovakia’s industrial production fell 3.8% year-on-year in October 2025, continuing its downward trend after a brief 0.6% gain in September. Output declined the most in transport equipment manufacturing, which dropped 11%, the worst monthly result since March 2024, partly due to a high comparison base. Electricity and gas supply dropped 15.5%, while electrical equipment (-8%) and machinery & equipment (-6%) also declined. Meanwhile, the manufacture of chemicals rose over 39%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output fell 2.5%. For the first ten months of 2025, overall industrial production declined 2.4% compared with the same period last year, with electricity & gas supply, metal production, and machinery & equipment being the largest drags, while gains in transport equipment partially offset losses. 7 of 15 sectors recorded declines, underscoring broad-based industrial weakness.

Industrial production in Slovakia fell by 6.3% year-on-year in August 2025, missing market expectations of a 3.1% decline and following a 4.6% drop in the previous month. This marked the steepest contraction in industrial activity since December 2022, as output weakened further in the manufacturing sector (-4.9% vs -2.7% in July). Meanwhile, production fell at a slower pace in mining and quarrying (-11% vs -14.4%) and in electricity, gas, and air-conditioning (-17.4% vs -17.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity rose 0.1% in August.
