Slovak Current Account Deficit Narrows in December

Slovakia’s current account deficit narrowed markedly to €777 million in December 2025, down from €1.43 billion in the same month a year earlier, supported by an improved trade balance.

The goods deficit shrank sharply to €368 million from €991 million, while the primary income shortfall eased to €383 million from €422 million.

By contrast, the secondary income deficit edged up slightly to €29 million from €27 million, and the services surplus narrowed to €3 million from €10 million.

For 2025 as a whole, Slovakia’s current account deficit decreased to €4.95 billion, compared with €6.02 billion in 2024.

Slovakia Current Account Deficit Narrows in November
Slovakia's current account deficit narrowed to EUR 337.5 million in November 2025, from EUR 387.6 million in the same month of the previous year. The goods account recorded a surplus of EUR 73 million, shifting from a deficit of EUR 10.7 million in November 2024. At the same time, the services account surplus increased to EUR 28.3 million from EUR 11.7 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, the primary income deficit widened to EUR 350.5 million from EUR 341.9 million, and the secondary income shortfall rose to EUR 88.3 million from EUR 46.6 million.

Slovakia's current account deficit narrowed sharply to EUR 197.3 million in October 2025, from EUR 580.5 million in the same month of the previous year. The goods account recorded a surplus of EUR 179.5 million, shifting from a deficit of EUR 64.8 million in October 2024. Moreover, the services account surplus widened significantly to EUR 27.0 million from EUR 11.5 million a year earlier. The primary income deficit shrank notably to EUR 324.9 million from EUR 430.6 million, while the secondary income shortfall narrowed to EUR 78.9 million from EUR 96.6 million.
