Seychelles Inflation Rate at 4-Mont High
The annual inflation rate in Seychelles edged up to 0.3% in February 2026 from 0.1% in the previous month. It marked the highest reading since October, as prices increased at a faster pace in all major categories, particularly fish (1.64% vs 0.22% in January), other food items excluding fish (1.03% vs 0.26%), and non-food items (0.17% vs 0.08%). Among food items, costs accelerated for oils and fats (5.44% vs 5.13%), non-alcoholic beverages (1.71% vs 1.57%), and a rebound in vegetables (3.34% vs -5.45%). Among non-food items, deflation softened for housing and utilities (-1.12% vs -1.67%), tobacco (-0.49% vs -0.74%), and recreation and culture (-3.71% vs -5.35%), while prices moderated for transport (0.05% vs 0.87%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices slipped 0.08%, reversing a 0.16% rise in January. This marked the first decline since October 2025.

The annual inflation rate rose to 0.1% in January 2026, rebounding from a 0.22% fall in December 2025. It marked the highest reading since October, as prices recovered in all major categories, particularly fish (0.22% vs -6.72% in December), other food items excluding fish (0.26% vs -0.95%), and non-food items (0.08% vs -0.01%). Among non-food products, prices increased at a faster pace for alcoholic beverages (4.5% vs 4.35%) and restaurants and hotels (2.98% vs 2.42%), while deflation softened for housing and utilities (-1.67% vs -2.24%), clothing and footwear (-0.43% vs -0.61%), furniture and household equipment (-0.21% vs -1.38%), and recreation and culture (-5.35% vs -5.45%). On the other hand, deflation worsened for tobacco (-0.74% vs -0.53%), while it eased for transport (0.87% vs 2.28%), health (0.36% vs 1.62%), and miscellaneous goods and services (0.79% vs 1.14%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.16% from 0.09% in December 2025.
