Romania’s producer inflation climbed to 13.82% year-on-year in September 2026, following an upwardly revised 11.83% rise in the previous month and marking the highest reading since March 2023.
Prices accelerated in the manufacturing sector (11.94% vs 10.52% in August), driven by faster inflation in paper and paper products, coke and refined petroleum products, basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, basic metals, fabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment), computer, electronic and optical products, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and other transport equipment.
Additionally, costs surged in mining and quarrying (22.46% vs 12.67%) and electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (17.73% vs 14.95%), while water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities remained broadly steady (14.70% vs 14.73%).
On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 2.60% in September 2026, following a 2.11% increase in the previous month.
