Romania’s producer inflation climbed 12.69% year-on-year in June 2026, following a downwardly revised 11.86% rise in the previous month and marking the highest reading since March 2023.
Prices accelerated in the manufacturing sector (9.09% vs 8.89% in May), driven by faster inflation in beverages, tobacco, textiles, wearing apparel, wood and wood products, paper and paper products, chemicals and chemical products, rubber and plastic products, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, and machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified.
Additionally, costs increased at a faster pace in mining and quarrying (8.25% vs 7.79%), electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (23.32% vs 21.33%), and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (14.2% vs 13.74%).
On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 0.84% in June 2026, easing from 1.41% in the previous month.
