Romania Producer Inflation Rises the Most in Over 2 Years

Romania’s annual producer inflation climbs 6% year-on-year in December 2025 from a downwardly revised 4.71% in the previous month. Price accelerated for manufacturing (4.43% vs 4.07% in November), mining and quarrying (1.43% vs 0.83%), and electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (10.32% vs 6.66%). Meanwhile, costs for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities held steady at 11.32%. On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up by 0.35% in December from 0.30% in the preceding period.

Annual producer inflation in Romania rose 4.78% year-on-year in November 2025, easing from a downwardly revised over two-year high of 7.90% in the previous month. Price growth moderated sharply for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (6.66% vs 20.54% in October), mining and quarrying (0.83% vs 3.41%), and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (11.32% vs 11.48%). Meanwhile, prices for manufacturing continued to increase (4.07% vs 3.62%). On a monthly basis, producer prices grew 0.30% in November from 0.99% in the preceding period.

Annual producer inflation in Romania rose 8% year-on-year in October 2025, following a downwardly revised 6.06% growth in the previous month. This marked the largest increase since May 2023, as price growth climbed sharply for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (20.54% vs 13.06% in September) and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (11.48% vs 10.21%). At the same time, costs recovered for mining and quarrying (3.41% vs -2.22%). Meanwhile, prices for manufacturing slowed (3.62% vs 3.80%). On a monthly basis, producer prices grew by 0.99% in October from 0.87% in the preceding period.
