Poland Retail Sales Growth Slows in October

Retail sales in Poland rose by 5.4% year-on-year in October 2025, slowing from a 6.4% gain in September but exceeding market expectations of a 3.7% advance.

Sales growth moderated for textiles, clothing, and footwear (9% vs 20.5% in September), solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels (4.7% vs 7.1%), other goods (2.4% vs 3.3%), and furniture, radios, TVs, and household appliances (13.9% vs 16.1%).

At the same time, sales in newspapers, books, and other specialized stores fell by 3.3%, reversing a 0.1% increase in September.

Meanwhile, activity increased for motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts (15.6% vs 15.0%), pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment (5.6% vs 4.4%), and food, beverages, and tobacco products (0.6% vs 0.2%).

On a monthly basis, retail activity grew by 6.7% in October, rebounding from 2.7% decline in the previous month.

Retail sales in Poland grew 5.3% year-on-year in December 2025, picking up from 3.1% in the previous month, but slightly below market forecasts of a 5.5% rise. Sales rebounded in food, beverages, and tobacco products (1.9% vs -2.9% in November) and in newspapers, books, other sales in specialized stores (1.4% vs -5.2%). At the same time, sales increased at a faster pace in motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts (13.1% vs 12.9%), solid, liquid and gaseous fuels (8.3% vs 5.9%), furniture, radio, TV, and household appliances (19.8% vs 16.6%), pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment (8.4% vs 2.1%), and other products (8.6% vs 0.9%). Meanwhile, sales moderated for textiles, clothing and footwear (6.0% vs 12.2%). On a monthly basis, retail sales surged 12.5% in December, reversing a 3.3% decline in the previous month.

Retail sales in Poland rose by 3.1% year-on-year in November 2025, easing from a 5.4% increase in October and below market expectations of a 3.9% advance. Sales slowed mostly for motor vehicles, motorcycles, parts (12.9% vs 15.6% in October) and pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment (2.1% vs 5.6%). Additionally, trade declined for food, beverages and tobacco products (-2.9% vs 0.6%), while it fell further for newspapers, books, other sales in specialized stores (-5.2% vs -3.3%). Meanwhile, sales increased faster for textiles, clothing and footwear (12.2% vs 9%), furniture, radio, TV and household appliances (16.6% vs 13.9%), and solid, liquid and gaseous fuels (5.9% vs 4.7%). On a monthly basis, retail activity dropped by 3.3% in November, reversing a 6.7% growth in the previous month.
