Peru Trade Surplus Expands in June

Peru’s trade surplus widened to USD 3,169 million in June 2026 from USD 2,795 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Exports grew 23.4% year-on-year to USD 8,906 million, driven by higher sales of traditional products (30.2%), non-traditional products (1.2%), and other products (157.6%).

Imports surged 29.7% to USD 5,737 million, led by increases in consumer goods (23.1%), supplies (27.1%), and capital goods (39.2%), while imports of other goods declined 30.7%.

In the first half of the year, Peru recorded a trade surplus of USD 22,756 million, expanding sharply from USD 13,306 million in the same period last year.

Exports totaled USD 56,438 million, 37.6% higher than a year earlier, while imports amounted to USD 33,682 million, an increase of 21.5%.

Peru Trade Surplus Widens in May
Peru’s trade surplus widened to USD 3,473 million in May 2026 from USD 1,955 million in the same month last year. Exports surged 38.9% year-on-year to USD 9,415 million, driven by higher shipments of traditional products (+52.2%) and other products (+176.4%), although exports of non-traditional products fell 2.3%. Imports also increased, though at a slower pace, rising 23.2% to USD 5,941 million, as purchases of consumer goods (+21.5%), capital goods (+29.9%), and raw materials and intermediate goods (+19.9%) continued to grow, partly offset by a decline in other goods (-45.7%). In the first five months of the year, Peru’s exports totaled USD 47,345 million, up 40.1%, while imports reached USD 27,836 million, an increase of 19.5%. As a result, the trade surplus widened to USD 19,509 million from USD 10,511 million in the same period last year.

Peru Trade Surplus Widens on Export Boost
Peru’s trade surplus widened to USD 3,304 million in April 2026 from USD 1,678 million in the same month last year. Still, this was the smallest trade surplus since August 2025. Exports surged 51.1% year-on-year to USD 9,329 million, driven by higher sales of traditional products (+68.8%), non-traditional products (+3.4%), and other products (+132.0%). Imports also soared, though at a slower pace, rising 34.0% to an all-time high of USD 6,025 million, as purchases of consumer goods (+30.7%), capital goods (+39.3%), and raw materials and intermediate goods (+32.6%) continued to increase, partly offset by a decline in other goods (-27.2%). Over the first four months of the year, Peru’s exports totaled USD 38,054 million, climbing 40.8%, while imports reached USD 21,883 million, up 18.5%. As a result, the trade surplus jumped to USD 16,171 million from USD 8,555 million in the same period last year.
