Peru GDP Annual Growth Rate at 2.10 percent  
Peru's economy advanced 2.1 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2017, easing from a 3 percent expansion in the last quarter of 2016. It is the lowest growth rate since the first quarter of 2015, mainly due to heavy floods linked to an unexpected El Niño phenomenon that hit the country's northern region. Cosntruction was the most affected, slumping 5.3 percent. In contrast, growth was recorded for: trade (0.1 percent); transport (2.5 percent), services to companies (0.6 percent), manufacturing (1.7 percent), mining (4.1 percent), electricity, gas and water (1 percent), and fisheries (37.7 percent). On the expenditure side, GDP growth was driven by an increase in household expenditure (2.2 percent) and a rise in exports (13.1 percent).
